I love productivity apps! I mean, I’m always on the look out for the next big thing in productivity apps. And, being an educator and Ed tech Coach, I’m looking for ways to apply those apps in an education setting. Here is a short list of some of my favorites:
- Spaces: I’m writing this in the Spaces app! If you’re into markdown, this is definitely worth a look. Taking markdown one step further, Spaces removes the markdown symbols. No more hashtags or other markdown symbols to clutter your writing.
- Everlog: As an educator and tech coach, I find it important to reflect on my day. Everlog is a journaling/writing app that keeps it simple. Everlog supports markdown, has a clean, simple look, and, with a subscription, syncs to all your devices.
- Apple Notes: Got an iPhone in your pocket? Notes is a good option for taking notes, but one built in feature makes it fantastic. The scanning feature. Here’s the scenario: A student wants to turn something in (paper copy) but they need it to study for a test. You don’t have time to read it. Open Notes, click the camera button, then choose scan document — that’s it! You’ve got a scanned copy of student work for you to peruse at your convenience.
- Noteplan 3: Noteplan 3 is a great all-in-one planner, to-do list, and note app. Start writing and your notes are saved for that particular day. Unable to complete a task that day? It’s easy to move incomplete tasks to another day. Want to share our notes? Provide others with a shareable link.
- Craft: Craft is what you make it. It’s a versatile that can serve a teacher well in that Craft documents are easily shareable with a link. Teachers can use craft to post class notes, assignments, and the syllabus.
- Spike Email: Spike is a conversational email app. By that I mean that your email comes in the form of a text message, clearing away all the clutter that comes with email. As teachers know, email is a vital communication tool that’s used with staff and parents. Spike email makes email messages simple to read and respond to.
- Command Browser: Teachers have to conduct research when teaching a topic. As browsers go, this one is a must tool for research. Command browser makes it easy to highlight and save web pages. Command has built in tools that allow you to take a note from within the browser, save a note to Notion or One Note, and save highlighted text to a journal in the browser.
