An Appreciation for the iPad Mini 6

If you like a tool, you’re more apt to make up a reason to use it.

Such is the case with my iPad mini 6. It’s a fantastic device at a little over 8 inches. It’s smaller than my 10.9 inch iPad Air and much smaller than any of the notebook computers I have. I enjoy using it so much it prompted me to buy a wireless keyboard for it (the Logitech K380 for Mac and iPad).

I was an early mini adopter, starting with the first iPad mini. My previous iPad mini’s were always consumption devices — read a book, watch YouTube, or read the news. With this device, I want to find reasons to use it. It’s actually the computer I’ve used the most since I got it shortly after it was made available. Why do I like it so much?

  • The form factor leads me to look at it like an iPad Air 4 mini. It’s basically the same form factor, but smaller. Even though it has an 8.3 inch screen, it feels smaller than the previous 7.9 inch iPad mini— because it is! The bottom button is gone and the bezels have decreased.
  • It’s got Apple’s fastest Mobile processor, the A15. Apple’s iPads have never felt slow, and this is certainly no exception. This thing is blazingly fast! Not a hiccup to be found!
  • I can use it anywhere! I can use it on my desk with a stand, a Bluetooth keyboard and Bluetooth mouse. Or I can use it while sitting on my couch. It makes my iPad Air 4 look cumbersome.
  • It’s a lightweight device. I can throw it in my bag and take it to work and hardly tell that it’s there. The days of lugging around a heavy laptop are over for me.
  • It’s got support for the second generation Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil 2 is fantastic, much improved on the first generation. It both charges and syncs by magnetically attaching to the mini.

These are just a few of the reason’s why I enjoy using my iPad mini 6. I’m sure you can come up with others. By the way, is it a surprise that I wrote this on my iPad mini 6?
